What is Continuing Competence?

The CIWM/WAMITAB continuing competence scheme is designed to ensure that the technically competent person (holds a certificate of technical competence, units or a qualification that is part of the operator competence scheme) on a waste site has knowledge and skills that keep pace with changes made across the waste management industry, such as the introduction of new legislation, technologies and techniques.

The CIWM/WAMITAB continuing competence scheme requires technically competent people in England and Wales to pass an assessment that demonstrates individuals have kept their competence up to date. For further information on the continuing competence scheme follow this link or use the buttons on the right.

Follow this link or use the button on the right to book your test (remember you must know which test options to take before travelling to the test centre).

Do I need to take the Continuing Competence Test?

Continuing Competence must be demonstrated 2 years from the date published on either the Primary Qualification certificate (if this is your first Continuing Competence test) or from the date printed on the last Continuing Competence certificate (if you have taken the Continuing Competence test before) for the specific activity.
